La città sale

Materia e simbolo, antichissima ricchezza da scambiare e trasformare, il sale è da sempre risorsa indispensabile per la vita. Elemento alchemico, immagine di purezza che è frutto di lavoro paziente, di un rispettoso scambio tra il mare e la terra, l’acqua ed il sole.

L’opera in sé è una performance frutto di un’azione condotta sul litorale salernitano durante un periodo di residenza nel territorio campano. Ho passato i mesi prima della mostra a raccogliere, con una bacinella, l’acqua dal mare cercando di trasformarla in sale.

Matter and symbol, an ancient wealth to be exchanged and transformed, salt has always been an essential resource for life. An alchemical element, an image of purity that is the result of patient work, a respectful exchange between the sea and the land, water and the sun.
The work itself is a performance resulting from an action carried out on the Salerno coastline during a residency in the Campania region. I spent the months leading up to the exhibition collecting seawater with a basin, trying to transform it into salt.
