Frust|r|azione è un lavoro performativo sulla violenza e sull’educazione patriarcale del passato attraverso il corpo ed il linguaggio. L’azione violenta del frustare viene smorzata dalla partecipazione attiva di chi assiste alla performance e decide di intervenire. Le cinte/fruste, che ho prodotto di color carne – cuoio chiaro – seguono la lunghezza in centimetri di alcuni componenti della mia famiglia. Su ogni cinta viene incisa a caldo con un pirografo, ai partecipanti chiedo infatti una parola che frusta / frustra; il profumo di pelle bruciata resta nell’aria.
Tutte le cinte infine vengono assemblate insieme creando un unico discorso sulla frustrazione e sulla violenza. Il corpo ed il linguaggio diventano quindi lo strumento per registrare questo processo. Un video documenta questa azione, mentre nello spazio espositivo lentamente prende forma una “lunga” installazione. La performance è stata prodotta all’interno della mostra “Magma Body and Words” all’Istituto Centrale per la Grafica di Roma.

Performance Installation with: 22 leather belts

Frust|r|azione is a performative work on violence and the patriarchal education of the past through the body and language. The violent act of whipping is softened by the active participation of the audience, who decide to intervene. The belts/whips, which I produced in flesh-colored leather, follow the centimeter length of some members of my family. On each belt, a word is burned into it with a pyrograph tool. I ask the participants for a word that whips/frustrates; the scent of burnt leather lingers in the air.
Finally, all the belts are assembled to create a single narrative on frustration and violence. The body and language thus become the tools to record this process. A video documents the action, while a “long” installation slowly takes form in the exhibition space. The performance was produced as part of the exhibition “Magma Body and Words” at the Central Institute for Graphics in Rome.
